Marked by the most extraordinary drought and sunshine conditions, ever registered since 1822, 2003 is first and foremost an early vintage.
Due to numerous weather incidents threatening the grape quality, (frost in April, hale in June and July, scorched grapes in August) harvest underwent a strict grape selection, an absolutely necessary measure to ensure a high quality Vintage.
Subsequently, a low yield, 30 to 40% less than in 2002.
Ultimately, the remaining grapes, perfectly healthy, produced a magnificent vintage, perfectly balanced, despite a low level of acidity.
Rich and full, the red wines offer splendid aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, black cherry, spices and liquorice, attack shows an exceptional density with a long finish, recalling the legendary 1929 Vintage.
