2011 is quite an early fruiting vintage.
The vineplant freely grew until June, nearly three weeks ahead of schedule, due to a particularly hot Spring. With a cool and rainy month of July, the cycle slowed down then started off again in August, a much milder month.
In the end, the wines don’t lack richness, but it is the delicacy of the tanins which makes this vintage so delightful, and the low level of acidity that gives birth to these smooth wines.
The tanins are silky, the fruit pleasant, but the wines often lack a bit of ‘pep’, and as they are quite pleasant already, we don’t really expect here a wine for laying down.
